Panelbeating processes

The processes involved in major panel repairs are time-consuming and complex, and require the skills of a professional panel beater or car body repairer for best results. The work of a panel beater or smash repair body shop in repairing damage to our vehicle will hopefully bring our car back to its factory state. Major panel work will likely involve metal planishing, welding, rust removal, dent repair, putty filling, priming, cleaning and finally respraying.

How long will it take?

Some elements of major panel work repairs take longer than others, and the important priming and paint curing processes can take between 24 hours and seven days each. If a recoat is required, it can take even longer. The time you’ll be without your car having major panel work completed will vary depending on the degree of work required. As all major panel work will require finish painting, you will need to allow for approximately 10 days without your vehicle.
