For listings on alerting systems and services look under this Yellow™ heading. An alarm system’s primary function is to alert its owner of a pre-determined element. The most commonly used alarms are for vehicles, houses and commercial establishments. A vehicle alarm, in most cases, simply emits a loud noise, such as a horn beep, which wards off intruders. House and commercial alarms can be a bit more elaborate, in that they will also alert an alarm service centre of a possible intrusion, which will in turn alert the local law enforcement authorities.
A home and commercial alarm system serves several functions, the most common of which is theft deterrence. Users are generally given signs to put on their windows or doors that act as the first line of defence; notifying a prospective thief that the place is indeed protected. Should a breach occur, the service centre is notified immediately. They will then verify the alarm and notify local law enforcement authorities. Some “add-ons” to the system can include a fire or carbon monoxide detector, automatic lighting, remote arming/disarming capabilities, Internet access, etc.
An alarm alerting company provides services to ensure fool-proof protection of property. They are the ones responsible for notifying the local police, as well as notifying the property owner of a potential breach. These services are typically offered for a monthly fee. Alarm systems are also available for other types of property, to include business, machinery i.e. ATMs, etc.
