Search for information on Alpaca and Llama breeders in this Yellow™ heading. Alpaca and Llama breeders are breeders that specialise in breeding Alpaca and Llama. While this breeding practice is to develop superior animals, the service typically only guarantees that a breed will occur. Alpaca are bred specifically for their wool, although their meat is edible as well. Llamas also are bred specifically for their wool and meat. Other species are the Guanaco and the Vicuna.
Alpaca are animals that are descendents of the camel family. Their wool is used in several types of clothing and cloth material and has become somewhat of a luxury. Breeding of these animals has become a growing trend, in that the wool provided is a lucrative industry.
Llamas, similar to the Alpaca, are also descendents of the camel family. Full grown, they can reach weights in excess of three hundred pounds. The animals were on the verge of extinction several years ago, but concerted efforts in their breeding have since brought them back to a reasonable level of population.
