Find information regarding apprenticeships under this Yellow™ heading. An apprenticeship is a program designed for an individual to become an expert in a particular field. An apprenticeship serves several purposes, in that it can prepare trainees for higher positions within an organisation, prepare them for business management, or prepare them to someday take over a business. Apprenticeships normally extend over a period of several years.
Business owners sometimes groom their juniors to take over the business. The best way to do this, in most cases, is to develop them into an apprentice, through various stages of learning. This could take up to several years, in order for the individual to effectively master the trade.
Apprenticeships have an advantage over hiring outside individuals into a position directly, in that the individual is groomed in all aspects of the business from the bottom level up. The apprentice essentially works himself through various ranks in the company, depending on how the plan is structured.
