Listings of art galleries can be found under this Yellow™ heading. An art gallery is a place of business that displays and / or sells art to the public. Clients can include a broad range of individuals, from private collectors to museums, etc. Art galleries also host several events, including public sales, which are available to the public; or private sales, which are available only by invitation to previous clients, high profile collectors etc.
Art galleries offer a broad range of “displays,” the most prominent of which is the painting exhibit. These displays typically involve the artist showcasing his artwork and offering it to the public for sale. Each art piece is tagged with a predetermined price and sold to the public at that or another negotiated price. Auctions allow prospective clients to “bid” on pieces of art, the winner being decided by the investor willing to spend the most on a piece.
Art galleries are sometimes hosted in museums, hotels, colleges, warehouses, and other areas offering the ability to provide large amounts of space. Galleries sometimes host shows highlighting one particular artist or offer opportunities for several artists to exhibit during one show.
