Listings of commercial artists can be found under this Yellow™ heading. A commercial artist is an individual who produces artwork for business purposes such as creating a design for a billboard, cartoon animation, magazine layouts, etc. Commercial artwork typically requires a degree so as to ensure that the employee (artist) is properly trained.
Commercial art can be found almost everywhere one looks. Logos on merchandise or apparel are designed by commercial artists as are billboards, magazines, comics, advertisements, etc.
A commercial artist, typically, is a full or part-time employee of a firm, or is sub-contracted by a firm to complete an assignment or project. S/he may be responsible for managing and overseeing a project or simply to complete a certain part of the project (such as the design elements). A graphic designer, in turn, is primarily responsible for creating a specific piece of work and transferring it into the required means of distribution (i.e. paper, computer program, etc.).
