Listings of babysitters can be found under this Yellow™ heading. A babysitter is an individual that specialises in the caretaking of children, typically for short periods of time. For example, an individual might hire a baby sitter to look after their children at home when an evening out is required.
A babysitter will typically come to the parent’s residence and will assume responsibility for the caretaking of children for shorter periods of time, such as a few hours, or at most, a few days (i.e. a vacation). In some cases, the babysitter may require that the child comes to their place of business or home, although generally most are willing to travel.
One should seek references when hiring a babysitter to ensure the child’s safety. A babysitter should be able to provide telephone numbers or addresses of previous clients. In most cases, a babysitter will charge an hourly rate, although this depends on the individual.
