Look for information on blasting contractors and equipment under this Yellow™ heading. A blasting contractor is an individual or organisation that specialises in the demolition or blasting of rock. In most cases, blasting is done for construction purposes, such as building a roadway through a mountain. Blasting, however, can also be completed for demolition purposes, such as imploding a building for demolition. Blasting equipment is essentially any type of equipment that one would use while completing a blasting project. Blasting contractors are generally licensed professionals who will study the project in advance, and decide upon the best and safest way of effectively completing it. Generally, equipment such as dynamite will be used in the blasting process, which will be linked to computers to explode at precision times. The project may also be studied by an engineer, who will set the timings and sequence on the explosives to allow the rock or other material to fall in a certain manner. Blasting equipment is generally not available to the public, due to the risk in using it. One should consult a blasting contractor for projects that they may have, so as to ensure that the job is done properly and safely completed.
