If you’re searching for distilled water, look under this Yellow™ heading. Distilled water is a form of purified water that is typically used for drinking purposes. While the process itself has been replaced by more modern methods, it is still commonly used today. Distillation involves removing all solid contaminants via condensing steam. This produces pure water, less mineral and other solid materials that once existed within the liquid. Consequently, the water is healthier to drink, as well as probably tasting better than the raw water would as well.
While the process of distillation is quite simple, there are other more complicated and effective methods available for purifying water. Reversed osmosis is one such method, along with carbon filtration methods. Both processes produce similar results, in a water that is contaminant-free. Some technologically advanced ships or boats actually implement the process of reversed osmosis to remove the salt from the ocean water, allowing it to become ingestible. In fact, after the process is complete, you probably wouldn’t even notice the difference between former salt water, and other water that went through the same process.
Distilled water is often sold in bottles, and can be used for a variety of purposes. Of course, drinking is one such method, but distilled water is also recommended when adding water to a radiator of a car (if necessary), as it ensures that you’re not adding contaminants that could possibly damage your engine – such as minerals.
