Look for an interpreter for a meeting, seminar, or conference, under this Yellow™ heading. A translation service or international organisation may have professional interpreters for only one specific language or interpreters of different languages such as Japanese, French, Chinese, Italian and other European or Asian languages. These organisations need to be accredited by NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters). Interpreters are needed for functions such as conferences for delegates from different countries. They are also hired by non-English speaking company executives of corporations that are based abroad but set up a satellite office in Australia.
An interpreter is one who interprets or translates orally for events where people from different countries who speak different languages participate. They are usually members of an organisation or association of interpreters and translators who help them with job placement and training. These professionals have varying backgrounds; some are in commerce, legal matters, technical matters, or other academic fields.
An interpreter has to be accurate with his or her translations. If interpretation or translation is done incorrectly, he or she will lose the trust of the client and might cause the latter business losses and other problems. Companies and organisations of interpreters need to provide a reliable translation service to multi national organisations and school administration for student exchange programs. They may translate a document from one language to another while trying to capture every nuance of the language’s written and verbal interpretations. Translators may also be tapped for official document translation needs. There are, for example, visa applicants to another country who have their documents written in their own language and, therefore, need to translate it to the language of the country they wish to visit. Many interpreters and translators are graduates of languages and linguistics.
