For information regarding magnets and magnetic materials, look under this Yellow™ heading. Magnets are metal objects surrounded by a magnetic field which attracts iron or steel. There are few materials which are naturally magnetic, and have the potential to be turned into magnets, some of which include iron, hematite, magnetite, and ionised gases. Many companies in Australia manufacture permanent magnets, and magnetic products that are used by many industries such as the aerospace, manufacturing, mining, automotive, engineering, electronics, craft, therapeutic and printing industries.
Magnet manufacturing companies produce many types of magnet-based products. They can make ferrite, rare earth, cobalt, alnico, and flexible magnets, as well as magnetic tools, and stationary and equipment magnets. Flexible rubber magnets are compounds of plastics or rubbers combined with magnetic powders of strontium ferrite. It is light weight, corrosion resistant, elastic, stable and is available in rolls, sheets, tapes, strips or cut pieces. Hard ferrite magnets, sometimes called ceramic magnets, have a grey natural metallic finish. They are widely used for electronics such as electric motors and audio speakers. Rare earth magnets are the smallest and most powerful of all permanent magnets. Although more expensive than ferrite magnets, rare earth magnets are 5-7 times stronger and offer the most value for money. Al Nico magnets are the first type of alloyed magnetic material. It is made by mixing aluminium, nickel and cobalt with iron and is particularly suitable for temperature sensitive applications.
Magnetic manufacturing companies also make magnetic health products that increases blood flow and oxygen absorption; speeds up the healing process and clears away lactic acids, toxins and waste products; and product that reduce pain associated with arthritis, rheumatism, muscle spasms, joint pain and torn ligaments.
