Step-by-Step
This search tool helps you find businesses in the exact location you're looking for. We find the best matches, show you where they are on a map, and provide their address and phone number.
- Step 1.
- Click on the Map Based Search button.
- Step 2.
- Enter the business type, products or services, specific brand names or other details in the Business Type box.
- Step 3.
- Enter an address in the Location boxes. This location will be the centre point on a map that we will create, showing where businesses are in relation to you. Be as specific as you can - if you can enter a street number and name, we can centre the map around your property. If you can only enter a suburb and state, the map will be based around the centre of the suburb.
- Step 4.
- Click on the SEARCH button.
- Step 5.
- You may be shown a list of alternative locations. Selecting a link will refine your search.
- Step 6.
- Your search results will then be displayed according to the proximity to the area searched. Each listing includes business contact details.
- Step 7.
- The results page is split into a map on the left hand side and a list of businesses on the right. The businesses are listed in order of their distance from the location you provide. Position your mouse over a business name listing and a hover box will appear showing the business details - its location, name, address and phone number. In some cases, the hover box will include a link to an advertisement, an email form and a website. Selecting a link within the hover box will take you to an advertisement for that business.
- Step 8.
- You can also reveal a business information box by moving your mouse over the colored flags, on the map. A yellow halo indicates additional information, such as links to an advertisement, email and website in the hover box.
- Step 9.
- Some businesses may not be shown on the map and a red or green symbol
will be displayed to indicate this. This is because the business services your location but is not actually located in the selected area. Information about the business will then be shown in the hover box and next to the business name in the listing. - Step 10.
- Up to three business types can be displayed on the map at once. Click the Add Business Type button above the business list to add to the business type lists. Use the checkbox, above the map, to remove entire business types from the map.
- Step 11.
- To view closer or further away from your location on the map, use the buttons under the map to zoom in or out. Zoom in to see a more detailed map and zoom out to reveal businesses in the surrounding areas. Click on the map to re-centre it on that point. You can also increase or decrease your map size using the buttons below the map.

- How can I view more businesses? You can view three different types of businesses at one time on each map. To add another type of business, just click on the Add Business Type button above the results list on the left. You can also use the zoom control to view a larger area with more businesses.
- How do I change the order? Businesses displayed on the map are sorted by their distance from the location you suggested. You can actually view the distance from a location in kilometres, drive time or by foot. Click on the How Far box on the right side. Unfortunately, some businesses cannot be mapped - these are at the bottom of the list. They are indicated by an 'n/a', or not available, next to the business names.
- How do I read what's in the box? You can view details for a business by putting your mouse over a flag icon on the map. This is called 'hovering'. A hover box will display the business name, address and telephone number. Some businesses provide more information in the box, such as an advertisement, email address or website. You can click on these links, or you can click on the business name link in the box or in the list to see more details.
- Can I hide businesses on the map? Yes - you can hide businesses on the map in two ways. First of all you could de-select the checkbox next to the business name in the list. Or, de-select the checkbox next to the business type in the map legend above the map, to hide all those businesses. To view the businesses on the map again, re-select, or re-click on, the checkboxes.
- Why can't some businesses be mapped? We are constantly upgrading our technology to make finding businesses easier for you. As our system develops, we will be covering more of Australia in greater detail and will be able to provide you with better search results. All businesses that have provided us with a "mappable address" will be found on a map. For example if a business has supplied a PO Box as their address they won't be able to be mapped.
