  • How much does eye testing cost?

Eye testing is bulk billed under Medicare. It’s a good preventative health measure because many other problems, such as diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol are seen in the back of the eye, which is examined during the eye test. That’s why its bulk billed.

  • How long does an eye test take?

A full eye test takes, on average, half an hour. It can be quicker for children or longer for older patients.

  • Should I be getting my children’s eye tested?

Yes. They should be tested before starting school to check their eye development is on track and any difficulties arising from eye or muscle problems aren’t mistaken for learning difficulties or laziness.

  • Will my macula be checked during the test?

Yes, a full eye test involves checking macula and checking the pressure inside your eye, which can lead to Glaucoma.

  • How often should I get my eyes tested?

For most people every 2 years is adequate. If you have a family history of eye disease or other problems, you may be advised to have a check every 12 months – in some circumstances even more frequently than that. If you experience any change to your vision you should always arrange an eye check straight away.

  • Do I need an appointment for an eye test?

It's not necessary – if you walk in and we have an empty slot we can certainly test you straight away – but its always advisable to make an appointment to avoid possible waits and/or disappointment.

  • Can I pay my sunnies/specs off?

Yes. With Certegy Ezypay you can pay just 25% deposit and take your sunnies or spec home straight away! Pay them off over 4 or 6 months (your choice) from your credit card or bank account (your choice) and even choose the date on which payments are made!

  • Can I get my prescriptions made up in wrap-around style sunglasses?

Yes, most people can – but not all. If you have very thick lenses it may not be possible, but were always happy to look at your options and see if we can do it for you. Just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it can’t be done!
