FAQs

  • What is a Digital Retinal Scan?

A DRS (Digital Retinal Scan) is a photograph highlighting the current health of your retina, optic nerve and blood vessels. Getting a DRS with your Standard Eye Test* is very helpful to you, and your optometrist, as it's a visual comparison of the past and present state of your eyes. This scan is also useful for your optometrist in checking for any subtle changes, which could lead to early detection of diseases.

  • What is an OCT scan?

An OCT is more advanced type of scanner. It's an extraordinary machine, that provides greater clarity of what your retina is like beneath the visible surface. On top of the Standard Eye Test and Digital Retinal Scan, you can get an OCT Scan to give more accurate detail on your eye health. This scan can allow us to see below the surface of your eye in extraordinary detail. And that means we can detect changes sooner which can lead to more efficient treatment.

  • Why is Eye Health important in the workplace?

Employers have a duty of care under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991, Section 16 (1) to 'take all reasonably practicable steps' to provide a working environment that is healthy, safe and without risks to the health of employees, contractors or other persons in or near the workplace.
