Heritage Memorials can help you in this stressful time by offering advice on materials or with the laying out of your inscriptions
From a simple urn for ashes, to double monuments and vaults, we can help you select a beautiful memorial for your loved one.

A Memorial is a lasting symbol of remembrance: a tribute or gift to someone dearly loved and missed. It is therefore extremely important that the firm chosen to build such a memorial has a reputation for quality workmanship at a reasonable price.

Heritage Memorials is Australian owned and operated by qualified Australian Monumental Masons; Stonemasons with over 20 years experience in the manufacturing of quality cemetery memorials up and down the east coast of NSW. We have built a reputation that has seen us registered with all Cemetery trusts and are often contracted by the cemeteries themselves to restore important projects such as Lawrence Hargraves, Dorothea Mackellar Memorial, war memorials and others.

When purchasing a memorial the work is always either completed or overseen by the owners so we can guarantee a professional finish at a fair price. Heritage Memorials can help you in this stressful time by offering advice on materials or with the laying out of your inscriptions. We offer our clients a compassionate service that takes the time to listen to their needs to ensure the right monument is chosen to reflect the love they feel.

  • How much should I spend?

Price can vary greatly from a small bronze or granite lawn marker to a full family tomb. But as a guide $2,500 to $8,000 is average.

  • What type of memorials are available?

Many different shapes & colours are available and it can be quite confusing. It is sometimes best to take a stroll through your local cemetery to gather an impression of the style and size you prefer.

  • What colour granite is best?

When thinking of a headstone the darker the colour the more the inscription lettering will stand out, for example Black granite with gold gilded letters will appear brighter than if it was cut to a light grey granite.

  • What about different religious beliefs?

Heritage Memorials has State of the Art computer technology to ensure inscriptions in all languages can be produced.

  • Where do we start?

First start with the cemetery to select a suitable site, giving some thought to their height regulations and the surrounding memorials for ideas. Then call to arrange a meeting or request a free quote from Heritage Memorials.

  • How long after the burial do we have to wait?

As soon as you're ready. If a monumental mason suggests you wait a year or so it probably means they do not intend to construct proper foundations.

  • What foundations do we need?

Foundations depend on the type of memorial but at the very minimum we use 150mm diameter concrete piers, installed in each corner to a depth of approx 2000mm,with galvanized reinforcement well above the requirements set out by the Australian Standards AS4204.

  • What about the quality of the foundation?

Using years of expertise our work is of one of the highest quality, and is far above industry standards. We use galvanised steel and reinforced mesh to strengthen the memorial and to prevent concrete cancer.

  • What are cemetery fees?

Cemetery fees are paid to the cemetery for work done to a grave by a Stonemason. The cost goes towards the administration & maintenance of the grounds.

  • What materials should I consider?

Granite, marble, sandstone and granolite are some of the most common materials used. Granite being one of the most favoured for its durability, but a combination can reduce the cost, for example granolite surrounds with granite headstone & top cover slab.
