Consultations are by appointment at 10 minute intervals. Urgent medical problems will be dealt with promptly.

Fully Equipped Modern Medical Centre

Features spacious, well-appointed consulting rooms & a large multi-bay treatment room staffed by a full time Practice Nurse. The practice boasts all equipment that would be expected in a large medical centre providing accident and emergency facilities. The medical practice provides a patient walking service up to midday. Patients are able to walking without an appointment and will be seen by a doctor. The doctors at this practice deliver excellent services for Mining and Pre-employment Medicals

Complete & Flexible Treatment & Billing Options

The centre includes an onsite pharmacy, pathology collecting rooms & radiology service. The radiology facility provides full X-ray and ultrasound, CTscanning & MRI. The medical practice provides a mixed billing structure, but also bulk bills directly to Medicare and Centre link HCC or Pensioner concession cards. The practice also provides a substantial amount of private billing in the areas of occupational health and tourist medicine.

New patients and families are welcome.

Additional Services: Women's & Psychology

Cairns Family Medical Centre employs a Pap Smear nurse as part of our Women's Health programme. This service is available for women by appointment 3 days a week.

A Psychologist is available by appointment Monday, Tuesday and Saturdays. Patients who are referred to her under a Mental Health Plan are able to claim a rebate from Medicare. Some patients are eligible for bulkbilling. She has a special interest in eating disorders, anxiety, depression as well as other mental health issues.

  • If my doctor is away can I see another doctor?

    Yes, you can - our doctors our happy to see another doctors patient in his or her absence.

  • Do you have a lady doctor? I prefer a lady doctor for my women problems.

    Yes, we have 2 female doctors here.

  • I cannot speak English very well. Do you have translators or interpreter service?

    Yes, we use the Telephone Interpreting Service. It is a free service to the patient.

  • Do you bulkbill?

    Yes we do bulkbill. Children who are under 16 years of age and persons listed on a Centre link card are bulkbilled. All other patients will be charged a fee.

  • Can I discuss my son / daughter consultation with the doctor?

    No, the doctor will not discuss a patient's consultations with a third party, without consent from the patient.

  • Can I book a long appointment with the doctor?

    Yes, you can talk to your doctor first though.

  • I think I have an infectious illness, should I tell the medical centre staff before I come in.

    Yes most definitely. We appreciate if you tell us before you come in, because we can isolate you from our other patients.

  • Can I get my results over the phone?

    The doctors prefer to give you yours results in a consultation. Sometimes the doctor may need to further discuss your condition, and this can be difficult to do over the phone.

  • Can I come in without an appointment?

    Yes you can, but you may have to wait. From time to time our walking patient numbers get very high, and so the wait can be long. If you are in pain or unwell, tell the front desk staff.

  • Do you have physiologist?

    Yes, we have 2 physiologists here. You would need a mental health plan from your doctor to claim a rebate.
