At Hervey Bay Jewellers we work towards helping you achieve what you would like - within your budget
Hervey Bay Jewellers are more than happy to melt down your old gold jewellery or to use your own gemstones when creating a new piece. For those with rings or chains that are sentimental but past repair, it is very popular, and economical, to have a solid gold bangle made. This way you can wear Grandma'€™s worn out bracelet in another form.

About Hervey Bay Jewellers:

Hervey Bay Jewellers opened at Urangan in November 2005 and followed with a second store at Eli Waters in 2007. The Urangan store has since closed and the business consolidated.

At Hervey Bay Jewellers we like to think outside the square and try to cater to personal needs and distinctive tastes. Greg, our on site Jeweller, is quite happy to source a particular gem stone, cut, or colour for you. There's not much Greg doesn€™t know about opal and he is more than willing to share his knowledge.

Jewellery Services:

At Hervey Bay Jewellers we work towards helping you achieve what you would like - within your budget. A discussion with Greg may result in a change in size or grade of diamonds or gemstones or a slight variation to a ring to make your desire reachable. While we will guide & assist you with advice when choosing your perfect piece, you are ultimately only limited by your imagination.

Please contact us on (07) 4194 1056 or drop in to our Hervey Bay store at Eli Waters.

FAQs

  • Do you resize rings?

Yes. We have an on site jeweller and can resize rings in all carats of gold metal and sterling silver. (We cannot resize or repair gold plated jewellery). The design of some rings may prevent them from being resized too far up or down due to the under rails or shoulder stones. Our jeweller will advise you if this applies to your ring.

  • How do I know that my ring will have the same diamonds in it when I get it back?

Swapping stones is not as common as you would think. Most jewellers strive to gain trust and respect, not throw it away to make a buck or two. It's just not worth it. We have a long standing good reputation and will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and give you peace of mind. Your diamonds will be returned back to you, clean, safe, and secure!

  • How much does it cost to make my ring bigger?

This will depend on a few factors. The metal (9ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold etc), the width and thickness of the ring (standard resizing is up to 3mm in width) as obviously a wider ring will require more gold, and how many sizes it needs to be altered. We believe we have the best repair prices in town. Bring your ring in for an obligation free quote.

  • Can you repair my chain?

Yes, we can repair gold and sterling silver chains.

  • Do you change watch batteries?

Yes, we can do this while you shop. We carry a large range of batteries that are turned over regularly to ensure they are fresh. We cannot guarantee your watch to be water proof after opening the back to replace or check the battery as we do not have a pressure tester. We do carry a range of seals should we find the one in your watch to be perished, broken or stretched.

  • Do you repair watches?

While we carry a large range of pins, rivots and screws to enable us to repair most watch band problems, we do not repair watches or clocks.

  • I have an engagement ring that is a bit different. Can you make a wedding band to fit around it?

Of course! We love to see something unique. Talk with our jeweller about your ideas and he will work with you to complete your wedding set.

  • I've lost a stone out of my ring. Can you put another one in?

Yes we can. We have a lot of loose stones on hand but also have reliable suppliers of genuine gemstones to assist in providing a stone to match others in the setting. They are also able to avail us to a huge range of gemstones in various grades, sizes and colours.

  • I've some old jewellery of mum's and I dont know if it is worth anything. Can you help

While we are not licenced valuers we are usually able to provide enough information for you to decide if you want a valuation. We can sort out what is gold and what is costume jewellery and we can see if any stones test as diamonds. If you require a valuation we can arrange this for you. The cost of having a ring valued and a certification provided, is around $80.(This varies depending on the item - multiple stones require a lot more work to certify than a solitaire).

  • I've heard about people melting down old jewellery and broken chains. Do you do that sort of thing?

Yes we do! The most popular and cost effective thing we do is to make solid bangles from your old and scrap jewellery. It doesn't matter if it is yellow gold or white gold, 9ct or 18ct, as it will all be melted together. Any stones from your old jewellery can be set into the bangle or we can supply stones that can be added each year for a birthday or anniversary. We can also make rings or pendants or just melt your gold into a nugget shape with a bail ready to wear.
