Whitsunday Anglican School: Co-educational Kindergarten to Year 12 Independent school situated in the tropical north of Queensland. Our academic focus, is supported by strong pastoral care which seeks to assist students in optimising their potential for success in life by building in them the habits of self-belief, persistence and resilience.

We are committed to providing the best possible program and education for each individual. We believe that all children develop in unique and different ways and at different rates. As a result, we follow a routine which is flexible and is subject to change as we strive to respond to the children's needs and interests are responded to.

We see the importance of play within our kindergarten environment as it provides the children with opportunities for success. Children who experience success are more likely to not only want to repeat the experience, but want to take on more challenges. Play encourages children to explore their environment, make discoveries, and to consolidate their learning through many hands on experience.

The school offers an education that caters to the individual needs of its students and proudly promotes Christian values.

  • When will my student learn how to use the device?

From 2012 on, we will run student boot camps to provide specific instruction on the best use of the devices in the classroom. However, students will have assistance from all staff and specifically the ICT services and eLearning staff. Some basic training will be supplied on the day of deployment.

  • How can I learn to support my student?

It is strongly advised that parents be present when the device is deployed to their student. This will ensure that they receive the training and advice of the care and basic use of the device required. Additionally, a number of evening opportunities will be provided for parents to undertake similar experiences in the classroom.

  • I have just bought a laptop for my child. Can she bring it school?

Parents can opt to supply their own device however we cannot support the device in any way.
