About the heading Concrete Contractors in Yellow Pages®

Concrete contractors are individuals or organisations who specialise in a variety of tasks in relation to concrete. Concrete contractors may be responsible for the concrete work on individual houses including driveways, garages, water tanks and carports etc. They can also be responsible for concrete projects at schools, universities, hospitals, apartment blocks, car parks, car yards, and shopping centres and factories, and may even be responsible for some civil work concrete projects.

Contrary to popular belief, concrete and cement are not the same things. Cement is a component of concrete. Concrete is made up of three basic components: water; aggregate made of rock, sand, or gravel; and cement. Cement, usually in powder form, acts as a binding agent when mixed with water and aggregates. This combination, or concrete mix, is then poured and hardens into the durable form known as concrete.

A number of different components can be added to concrete to change the look, texture and even the setting time of concrete. For example, accelerators are sometimes added to concrete to reduce the setting time of concrete, and retarding mixtures are often used in hot weather conditions to reduce the setting time so that the concrete does not set too quickly and as a result crack. Different coloured dyes can also be added to colour the concrete.

Concrete contractors are located in cities, and metropolitan and most regional areas. If you are looking for information on concrete contractors look under this heading in Yellow Pages®.
