A lattice is a structural panel made from crossed strips arranged to form a diagonal or square pattern. Lattice designs are often used in windows, gazebos, and gates as well as in flower or vine trellises.
Lattice is a framework consisting of a criss-crossed pattern of strips of building material, most often wood but also metal and even plastics. The design is created by crossing and interweaving the strips to form a network which is most often diamond shaped or square. Latticework can be purely ornamental, or can be used as a truss structure such as a lattice girder bridge.
A trellis is an architectural structure, usually made from a lattice framework of wood, bamboo or metal that is normally made to support and display climbing plants, especially shrubs. There are many types of trellis for different places and for different plants, from agricultural types, especially in viticulture, which are covered at vine training systems, to garden uses for climbers such as grapevines, clematis, ivy, and climbing roses or other support based growing plants.
Lattice panels can be used to build fence extensions, privacy screens, patio and carport screens, gates and garden arbours. Most lattice products can be bought from the supplier, while some suppliers will also custom build panels and structures using a variety of materials.
