FAQs

  • What is the cancellation policy?

Students must provide their instructor with 48 hours notice when canceling a lesson. The full lesson fee is payable for any lessons cancelled less than 48 hours before the scheduled lesson time.

  • What is Keys2Drive?

Keys2Drive is an Australia-wide, federally-funded education program providing a free driving lesson for the learner driver and their supervisor with a qualified driving instructor, designed to make newly licensed drivers safer on the road.

  • Prefer to have our team select an instructor for you?

Contact our friendly call centre on 1300 788 229 between the hours of 08:00am - 06:00pm Monday to Friday or 09:30am - 06:00pm on Saturday and we will arrange for an available driving instructor in your area to call you.

  • How many lessons will my child require?

Every new driver will develop their skills, confidence and awareness at different rates. After the first lesson, an RACV Drive School instructor will be better placed to assess their needs and determine an individually tailored lesson plan for the future. Whoever the driver is, the more experience they can gain as a learner the better.

  • How long to lessons run for?

The majority of RACV Drive School lessons run for 45 or 60 minutes, which will begin at a location and time agreed upon by you and the driver. RACV also offers the option of a 90 minute lesson prior to the completion of the drive test.

  • What do I need to bring to my first lesson?

It is a legal requirement that students carry their learners permit whilst driving on Victorian roads and students will need to carry their log books where applicable.

  • How do we create safer drivers?

Each year in Victoria approximately 70 road users aged between 18 and 25 are killed and 1800 are seriously injured. RACV Drive School recognizes the risks involved in driving and how to best instill the confidence and skill in their students to become safer drivers.

  • Left a message for an instructor to return your call?

If your call is directed to voicemail, leave a brief message for the driving instructor - your name and contact phone number, and the instructor will usually return your call within 2 hours. Calls are returned between the hours of 08:00am - 06:00pm Monday - Friday within 2 hours. If you have left a message for an instructor after hours, the call will be returned the following business day.
