FAQs

  • What do I need to bring?

Physiotherapy is 'physical therapy'. Physiotherapy uses movement and exercise as part of its assessment and treatment. Wear clothes that are comfortable and do not restrict your movement.

  • Do I need a doctors referral?

No. You do not need a doctors referral to see one of our physiotherapists, unless it is a work related injury or your injury is the result of a motor vehicle accident and you intend for your treatment to be paid by the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA).

  • Can I use HICAPS?

Yes, HICAPS is Australia's leading electronic claiming service, providing members of participating health funds the convenience of electronic claims (health fund and Medicare Easyclaim) processing and payments at the point of service. The real benefit for patients is convenience! No more queuing at health fund branches and filling in claim forms.

  • Does private health insurance cover physiotherapy costs?

Yes, the rebate you receive from your health insurer will depend on your level of cover. Many health insurance companies are now using HICAPS, which means we can bill the insurer directly and you will only pay the gap.

  • What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Our focus is the improvement of function and reducing pain thereby assisting people to achieve their goals at work, sport and in their day to day life. Physiotherapists specialise in treating and preventing pain and injuries to joints, nerves and muscles through the use of specific techniques.

  • Is physiotherapy covered by Medicare?

Only in specific circumstances. Physiotherapy is only covered by Medicare if you are referred by your GP for an EPC program (Enhanced Primary Care).
