Public Liability

Public Liabilty insurance policies protect you & your business, against the financial risk of being found liable to a third party for death, injury, loss or damage of property or 'pure economic' loss resulting from your negligence. Product liability insurance covers damage or injury caused to another business, person or property should your product or the product you are selling fails.

Workers Compensation

Compulsory for all employers in Western Australia, this insurance protects employers & employees from financial costs when a worker sustains a work-related injury or disease. As per WorkCover law, ALL workers must be covered by a workers compensation policy. Failure to obtain cover, will result in large fines and penalties issued by WorkCover WA. Westralian Insurance will assist in determining cover, explaining the requirements of insuring sub-contractors, working directors and family members.

Professional Indemnity

This policy aims to shield the professional's assets in the event of a claim, therefore ensuring that they are able to continue running their business. It is well described by one Insurer as "agrees to indemnify the Insured against legal liability for any Claim for compensation first made against the Insured during the Period of Cover and which is notified to the Insurer during the Period of Cover in respect of any liability incurred in the conduct of the Professional Business Practice".

What does an insurance broker do?

As a general insurance broker, Westralian Insurance works on behalf of the client, approaching the market to obtain the best cover and premium to suit their business requirements. Westralian Insurance also manages client insurance programs and any claims which occur. Most of the time, quotes and subsequent paperwork can be arranged over the phone and via fax and email, however we are also happy to meet with you, at your business premise or at our Wangara office.

How can I make a payment to Westralian Insurance?

You may pay your premium via cheque, credit card, over the phone or by completing a remittance slip, direct deposit, cash or with monthly payments. Should you wish to pay monthly (extra costs do apply), Westralian Insurance can arrange a premium funding quotation for you.

How can I get a fast Certificate of Currency?

Westralian Insurance can email, post or fax you a Certificate of Currency with payment of the insurance premium. This can often be done on the day of your request.

Do I need Public Liability insurance?

Public Liability insurance protects you, and your business, from financial loss caused by property damage or injury to a member of the public at your place of business or whilst undertaking your work Australia wide, resulting from negligence. It is not compulsory in Western Australia, however it is advisable for all businesses to have a current Public Liability policy, especially if you are entering into contracts as it may be a requirement for these.

Do I need Workers Compensation insurance?

For any businesses employing staff, termed under the legislation as a 'worker', you must have a current Workers Compensation policy in force. Sole traders and Partnerships are unable to arrange Workers Compensation insurance, however should you engage any employees, subcontractors and/or contractors you must cover them for Workers Compensation.

Can I cover my tools of trade anywhere in Australia?

Yes, you can. This product is called 'General Property' which can cover you anywhere in Australia, for theft from a locked vehicle or locked premises. Policies can also include full accidental damage, fire and overturning or collision of the conveying vehicle.

Can you provide insurance cover above the 26 parallel?

Yes we can, however this cover may incur a higher premium due to the remote location and risk of cyclone damage.
