Bianca Spender
Bianca Spender uses the tension between structure and softness, to create clothes that are sophisticated, yet have a spirited edge. Her clothes are understated and imaginative with a focus on tailoring. Bianca Spender has three standalone boutiques in Sydney and Melbourne, and first took part in Australian Fashion Week in 2010.
Kahlo
The Aussie duo behind Kahlo have created a label which is distinguished by its simplicity and slightly androgynous edge. The trans-seasonal elements utilise soft leathers, suede, organic cottons and silks sourced from the United States and Italy, and the pieces are constructed around the philosophy that clothing should make the wearer feel effortlessly beautiful and empowered.
AJE
While creating collections that transcend traditional fashion barriers, AJE has simultaneously designed clothes that embody sophistication and glamour. The talented designer duo at AJE has been formally recognised through a number of awards, and a successful collaboration with Sportsgirl in 2010.
Romance was Born
With theatrical catwalk shows and outlandish designs, the pair behind Romance Was Born have carved their niche in the Australian fashion scene. Their love of kitsch and creativity has led to bold and innovative designs that have drawn inspiration from a field as diverse as Captain Planet and Freddie Kruger.
Alice McCall
Formerly a stylist to the stars, London-born Alice McCall launched her label in 2004, following a period as designer for Sass & Bide. Her big break as designer came after Kate Moss bought several of her one-off silk designs in the late 1990s. In addition to her own successful label, she has designed diffusion lines for brands such as Target, General Pants Co and TopShop.
