Camping out in our big backyard
Index
Does yet another peak hour traffic jam have you dreaming of getting away from it all?
There’s nothing quite like spending a few nights in Australia’s stunning natural environment.
Every state has something to offer, whether it’s beaches, hills or rivers. It’s time you went bush with no regrets and no worries!
Get amongst it
For some, the idea of pitching a tent in the middle of nowhere with no facilities is pure bliss. For less adventurous sorts, caravan parks are a much more comfortable alternative.
Luckily, Australia is not shy of caravan parks, not only in urban areas and tourist destinations, but also in remote locations. The best part is a lot of them border national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, so you can get up close and personal with nature.
Make a day (and night) of it
Choose your destination carefully and do some research on things to do and see.
There may be important indigenous sites nearby, rare animals in their natural environment, or limestone caves to explore.
Throw a pair of comfy walking shoes on, pack a picnic with plenty of water, and head off for a day-trip. Take in your surrounds, breath in the wildflowers, go bird-watching – you never know what you might find!
There’s nothing better than watching the sunset at night while roasting marshmallows on an open fire out-bush (check fire restrictions first). Finish the night off with some star gazing or get the old guitar out – if you think your family can handle it!
If you need recommendations, contact the caravan park directly and ask what the must sees are in the local area.
