What are the rules with home cleaners and pets?
Index
So you’ve engaged a cleaning service – but what should you do with your pet when the cleaners are in the house? Are there any ‘rules’ around this?
Ok, so you’ve engaged a professional cleaning service. But what should you do with your pet while the cleaners are doing their thing?
Well, more often than not, domestic cleaning services are "pet friendly" and will be happy to get to know Fred the cat, Ralph the dog or Nemo the goldish, so you probably won’t need to lock up your pets on cleaning day.
However, you can’t assume anything. So it’s best to let your cleaning company know that you have a cat or a dog. Or a tarantula.
It’s a good idea to let your home cleaning service know that you have a big dog. Whether it’s chaining him up for the day, or sending him to the neighbours garden for a couple of hours, you’ll be able to find a solution that that works for everyone.
Remember – you are liable for the behaviour of your pet. So if little Fifi the chihuahua gets overly frisky with the cleaner, you are responsible, no matter what. No verbal agreements with your cleaner will negate your legal position.
Another thing to consider? It’s highly likely that your loveable (and messy) pet is very probably the reason why your house needs a professional cleaner after all. Shedded hair, muddy footprints and chewed toys may not come under the normal cleaning service your cleaner offers.
So if you can’t convince your pet to tone down the mess, you might need to cough up a little extra cash to your cleaner, instead.
