First Nations Voice-Over Artists With Cultural Authenticity

Turning voices, music & stories into polished audio experiences with integrity, creativity and First Nations authenticity.
Hi, my name is Nigel Pegrum, and I own and run Pegasus Studios. Pegasus offers a professional yet relaxed studio environment where your music, voice-overs, TV and radio ads, training programs and film soundtracks are turned into highly polished, professional results. ? Suppose this is your first-ever recording, or you are already an award-winning artist. In that case, my industry experience will enable me to steer your project to the result you wished for within the deadline and budget.
Pegasus Studios is a boutique yet professional recording facility located in Bayview Heights / Cairns, Queensland. Owned and operated by Nigel Pegrum, the studio offers a relaxed but technically robust environment where clients whether new artists or seasoned professionals—can bring their music, voice-overs, jingles, film soundtracks, ADR, or commercial audio projects to life. The design of the control room and equipment layout mirrors the major London studios Nigel worked in, scaled to an intimate setup with both analogue and digital gear in harmony.
The studio’s physical space is compact but well-considered: a main room suitable for a drum kit plus a few musicians, a separate vocal booth, and a control room with a large corner window to allow natural light in. There’s also a small kitchen, and amenities such as fridge, microwave and bathroom. The equipment is a hybrid of trusted analogue preamps, a 32‑channel desk, valve microphones, and digital Pro Tools setup leveraging “warmth” from vintage gear and flexibility from modern systems. Nigel also maintains a set of session musicians, so clients can tap into additional instrumentation as needed.
Pegasus has carved a particular niche in First Nations voice-over work. Through community-based recording projects, the studio has built a line-up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice artists (from elders to youth) capable of interpreting scripts in English, Aboriginal English, Torres Strait Creole, and even Pidgin English. The studio also specialises in ADR, sound sweetening, SFX, theme writing and underscore, often collaborating with government agencies, documentary filmmakers, and educational bodies.
