Our mission is to empower individuals to navigate life's challenges with resilience by providing compassionate care. Evidence-based interventions, and a supportive environment for complete mental well-being. In my 24 years of practicing psychotherapy, I have learnt that people already possess the personal resources they need to heal their psychological distress. Catherine Devetzis is a renowned clinical psychologist in Bowral. I provide a safe and supportive environment where my clients can heal steadily and without any inhibitions. Having begun my practice in 1999, I am registered, licensed, and accredited by the Australian Psychological Society. I am also an AHPRA-certified clinical psychologist. With empathy and compassion, I build a trusting therapeutic relationship with my patients. My treatment approaches are tailored to suit the individual patients, and this can range from play therapy, art therapy, and narrative therapy to critical incident stress debriefing, NLP, and psychosynthesis. I also specialise in cognitive behavioural therapy, Hakomi psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, sensory-motor psychotherapy, and more such methods of treatment. I see all kinds of patients, individuals, couples, families, and children.

How do we contact you?

Call me at 0414 381 551.

You are only contactable on the phone or treatment. Why can I not text or email you?

Choosing your therapist is a very important part of treatment. Writing hides much of the vital therapeutic information that actually interacting provides. Similarly, I am unable to respond to communication outside of treatment. I consider texts and emails as risky as doing operations outside of an operating theatre and have chosen to eliminate that risk altogether. I take phone calls from 9am -7pm between clients from Monday to Friday. I will return your voicemail within 24 hours.

What are your working hours?

I see patients in the following hours Monday-Thursday 09:00 am to 07:00 pm, Saturdays 11:00 am to 05:00 pm.

Where are you located?

My clinic is at 4/36 Bong Bong St, Bowral, NSW 2576.

Can you read my mind?

No, but I have been well trained to observe and understand very subtle responses in my client and these are powerful clues with regards to how we should proceed in the process of activating your recovery. I observe very keenly and continually use this information to tailor our session. I also give you feedback on what I see your body, voice or word patterns revealing, to help you integrate and activate your innate healing resources.

I am worried about my adult partner/friend/child. Can I make an appointment with you?

Of course, I would be happy to see significant people in your life. However, motivation is a key element in a person benefiting from treatment and it is up to them to make the call and assess whether they would want to proceed with me. You are welcome to call and get a sense of me as a practitioner, but practical questions relating to treatment are best discussed directly with the patient.

Do I need a referral to see you?

This practice treats both referred and completely private patients. A referral is not necessary to see me. The practice is totally independent of all health insurance providers and as such I am unable to provide information about their services or the rebates you might receive.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

We assess each other through conversation: I asses what your problems are, how you are coping, what forces are keeping them in place and which treatment strategies would be best for you. I also get a sense of any barriers to your recovery and try to address these in order to make you more responsive. We examine the history and context of the symptoms and to consider whether there were any life events that activated them. You assess how comfortable and confident you are in treatment.

Do you accept Mental Health Treatment Plans?

Yes, I do, however, it is up to the patient and GP to organize the valid referral beforehand. A valid referral contains four essential items of information: Psychologists name, GP's diagnosis, Number of sessions, Confirmation that a Mental Health Care Plan or (MHCP) is in place. e.g., "Dear Catherine Devetzis. Thank you for treating client's (diagnosis). I have prepared a MHCP for # sessions".
