Dr. Nandini Somanathan MD, MRCOG, FRANZCOG (United Kingdom at the Royal Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield) is a senior staff specialist at John Hunter Hospital, conjoint lecturer at University of Newcastle. She is also the training supervisor and mentor for junior doctors in training. This enables her to keep up-to-date with current practices the recent advances in the speciality.

Do I need regular ultrasound scans?

Dr. Nandini Somanathan will keep an eye on your baby’s growth by doing the ultrasound scans in the room herself, if she has any concerns she will request a formal scan.


Can I travel during pregnancy?

Travel and flying in pregnancy are generally safe and not restricted for medical reasons at any gestation. However, when planning holidays we would suggest that you check with your airline for any restrictions they impose on your time to fly before you book travel dates. There may be additional precautions according to your circumstances which should be discussed with your obstetrician.


Do I need a referral?

Yes, you will need a referral from your GP; this will be effective for 12 months.
