FAQschevron down

Which areas do you treat?

All of our treatments are focused on the areas where each particular pest enters the house, hides, breeds and feeds. This is done in the safest manner possible to you, your loved ones and pets.

Are your treatments safe for my family and pets?

At Pest King, we pride ourselves in taking care of our clients. We use products that are of extremely low toxicity to humans and pets and we apply them in the safest manner possible. We also assess the site for any potential hazards or risks before commencing treatment and rectify anything that needs to be taken care of.

How often should I have a termite inspection?

Australian Standard 3660 states that termite inspections should be conducted with a maximum interval of every 12 months. However, some properties deemed to be in a high risk situation may be recommended to have inspections carried out at closer intervals.

I have found termites what should I do?

Do not disturb them! While many people instinctively reach for the nearest aerosol can and spray the termite activity that they can see it is very important to understand that the termites you can see are only a small percentage of the colony which may be invading other areas that are currently undetectable. You will need to book in a termite inspection from one of our trained professionals to assess the extent of damage and discuss the best and personalised method of treatment.

Do I need to prepare anything before a treatment?

If you have a floor that requires mopping eg: tiles, floorboards you may like to mop beforehand so the treatment has a clean surface to bond to providing you with a long term residual effect. You are not required to remove anything from your cupboards unless you have a severe infestation. Clothes can be removed from washing lines before external spraying is conducted. Animal food and water can be temporarily relocated away from treatment areas.

Will my house insurance cover termite damage?

Insurance companies do not cover damage caused by termites. Pest King has insurance options available through our insurer for up to $100,000 timber replacement after an inspection has been conducted and preventative measures have been put in place.

How long will the treatment take?

Pest control for an average house will take 1-2 hours. Specialised pest treatments such as termites and bed bugs will vary depending on the situation.

How long will a termite treatment last?

There are many things to consider when asking this question and the answer will depend on the method of treatment that is carried out. Some treatments have a residual effect for 10 years!

How do I know if I have termites?

Typically, termites are first noticed by discovering damaged timber, mudding which is a tunnel or workings that termites create to conceal themselves from predators, or even by discovering a nest. Nests can be found in many different places depending on the species of termites’ present including gardens, trees, wall cavities, roof voids, subfloors or even underground.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes! All our technicians are fully qualified, licensed and insured by one of Australia's leading pest control insurers.
