I always thought clubs were supposed to support children to participate. Today I was very disappointed in this club. My grandson who plays in the under 13's team was injured a couple of weeks ago when playing for the club in Cairns. His knee got stood on and it has been sore so his Mum took him to the doctor and she said he had to have a MRI done. He couldn't have it done till last Saturday cause that was the earliest he could be fitted in and then she had to wait until Thursday for the results from the doctor as she lives at Woodstock which is 50 kilometers west of here. She had informed the manager of the team of what was going on as that is the only phone number she has and this is the first year he has played for this club. He previously did soccer. She said that was fine. Thankfully the results came back that everything was fine with his knee so my daughter thinking she was doing the right thing bought him all the way in to Townsville for the game today only to watch her son sit on the bench for the whole game cause he had not turned up to training. If she had known that was going to happen she would not have bought him in and just resumed training next week but now he is so upset that he was sat on the bench for the whole game that he has decided not to play football anymore. So thanks to this coach their is one very upset child and one very angry mother and grandmother. He does not understand what he did wrong. Was he supposed to still come to training even though he wasn't allowed to train for medical reasons. Seems very unfair to me and no way to promote the sport and entice children to play the sport and certainly no way to encourage people to allow their children to play for this club. I know you probably can't tell coaches what to do but it just seems a bit ridiculous to me. How is humiliating children like that encourage them to play a sport. My grandson was so excited to play and one person has diminished that for him
