What's in an evaporative service?
1) Test evaporative prior to servicing to make sure all is working. 2) Open up evap. 3) Check water level. 4) Check condition of pads Aspin or CELdek. 5) Test elect water pump. 6) Adjust bleed off if necessary. 7) Check tension and condition of vee belt (if fitted). 8) Check drum bearings (if fitted). 9) Check elect motor (amps and bearings). 10) Wash out reservoir and brush out dust and cobwebs. 11) Flush pads out with disinfectant/cleaner. 12) Test evap operation. 13) Close up.
How often should I service my evaporative?
All evaporative require a min 12 monthly service, (Try having a family taking a bath for 12months and only pulling out the plug and not washing the side of the bath as you get a build-up of grime and sludge this is also true to evaporative (Evaporative Air Conditioning).
Can I service the evaporative myself?
Before undertaking a service 'Isolate power" Servicing of air conditioning systems should always be undertaken by a trained and qualified technician. However, you, the owner, can improve the efficiency of your system by undertaking a few simple procedures. 1) Drain reservoir. 2) Brush out dust and cobwebs. 3) Do a visual of the vee belt (if fitted) look for cracked belt or loose belt. 4) Look at fan blades. 5) Flush out the pads. In doubt call, phone calls are cheap mistakes can cost.

Check the wall controller, check the meter box, if all is normal, you will need to get a technician out to trace the fault.
Do you use generic parts or even secondhand parts?
Evap Doctor only uses genuine parts and on some occasions the genuine parts are unavailable (this can be through age of the unit or no longer manufactured ) then a generic part will be used only after the client has been informed and approval has been given. Evap will not supply and sell secondhand parts.
Evaporative is not cooling?
Is it switched to cool, if the temperature and most importantly the humidity, are high the effectiveness of the evaporative can be reduced. On a high humidity day, it can seem like the evaporative is not cooling, one of the simplest ways of checking is to look at the bleed off pipe, there should be water discharge between 4 to 6 litres/per hour on older evaporative (depending upon age and make). If there is a bleed off and there is air flow out of the vents, you may not have a problem.

Most of these common faults are easily rectified and, on most occasions, can be rectified with a routine service.
Are all evaporative air conditioner service businesses the same?
The answer is no, it is prudent to ask is the technician a qualified electrician or does the technician hold a "restricted electrical license" both are very important to the client to know, as these are the minimum credentials he/she should process as they will need to undertake electrical testing of the evaporative air conditioner, even the fitting of a vee belt the tech will need to check the motor amps for correct tension and the fitting of an axial motor RPM will need to be adjusted.
