Can a candle be burnt on any surface?
No, candles should always be burnt on a heatproof surface or at least a plate, etc. to avoid marking the surface.
How do I reduce smoke when extinguishing the candle?
Using a candle snuffer rather than blowing out the candle, also using a toothpick or similar to push the wick down temporarily into the molten wax; be careful to stand back up again immediately for relighting later.
How do I stop my candles from fading?
Wherever possible, keep candles away from direct sunlight.
