Am I suitable for dental implant treatment to replace missing/lost teeth?

Most people are suitable for dental implant therapy. Even if teeth have been missing for several years, it is usually possible to have them replaced with dental implants. It may be necessary to consider some extra bone build-up (bone graft) in some cases. A new type of X-ray assessment is available, called CBCT, to assess your suitability.

Can I claim the cost from my insurance?

Private health insurance subsidies your treatment. You will be given pre-treatment quotation with item codes so you can check your level of coverage and assess your out of pocket costs.

What is Oral & Maxillofacial surgery?

This specialty encompasses the surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and deformities involving the head, face, mouth, teeth, gums, and the jaws. It deals with everything from reconstructing faces injured by trauma to surgically correcting misaligned jaws to implant surgery of the mouth as well as treating a wide spectrum of facial pathology. Both the functional and cosmetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues are dealt with.

Can I have my treatment while I am asleep?

Treatment can be provided when you are awake with local anaesthetic, or while you are sedated or completely asleep under general anaesthetic. The choice will depend on your preference, your health and the nature of the treatment you need.

Do I need to have private insurance to get treated?

Treatment is available with or without private health insurance. However, private health insurance assists with the costs of treatment, particularly if it is necessary to go to hospital. Each health insurance policy is different, and you need to clarify what your entitlements are with your fund. You may be able to claim some of your treatment through Medicare.

Do I need a referral to see the surgeon?

You can refer yourself to visit our surgeons. If you wish to claim part of the consultation fee from Medicare, you will need a valid referral from your doctor or dentist.
