      Situated in Cowra, we have been growing and supplying turf to the Central West area of NSW, Australia, since 1989. The business is open 5 days a week and the weekend by appointment, predominantly laying turf for customers. You can also pick turf up from the farm if you decide to lay it yourself.

      Cowra Turf is a locally owned and operated business that has been growing and supplying turf since 1989 in the Cowra region. We also supply to nearby regions like Orange, Bathurst, Cowra, Young, Yass, Goulburn, Canberra, and all areas in the Central West. We pride ourselves on supplying premium-quality turf and providing excellent customer service. A well-maintained lawn can increase the value of your home and provide a safe surface for kids and pets to play on. Turf is a considerably cheaper option than other surface finish products such as concrete, pavers, or synthetic grass.

      We can provide you with advice on soil preparation, recommend turf types for your area, provide you with information to DIY, or organise for your turf to be laid. You are warmly welcomed to visit and view the turf varieties for yourself. Our team also offers advice on maintaining your turf in top-quality condition once it has been laid. You can either pick up the turf from our farm in Cowra or we can also get it delivered to you on your site. Our turf varieties include Tall Fescue and Kikuyu, both of which have their own unique benefits.

      How much area does a roll of turf cover?

      Each roll covers one square metre.


      What grass suits my climate?

      In warm to hot climates, we recommend Kikuyu. The Tall Fescue is more suited to cooler climates. This can vary depending on your specific needs. For more information, see Types of Turf.


      What depth should it be between my soil and pavers / garden edges before I lay turf?

      It varies a little with the different types of turf, but normally around two inches.


      Is there a maintenance-free turf?

      Not really. Grass is a living plant and needs to be watered, mowed, and fertilised. Some lawns do take less maintenance than others.


      How do I make my turf greener?

      One method is to use a fertiliser that contains extra Nitrogen - it must be watered in well.


      When is the best time to lay turf?

      Turf can be laid all year round. The cooler months are better as it is easier to establish, and the turf requires less water.


      What types of fertilisers work best?

      We recommend Pivot 15, Starter 15, or Mult-Grow:" Nitrogen 15 ", " Phosphorous 13 "," Sulphur 10".


      Is there a type of turf that stays green all year round?

      Yes - Tall Fescue. It is a cooler-climate grass, however, and requires regular watering.
