      Cowra Veterinary Centre has been proudly serving Cowra and surrounding regions since the 1950s, when the legendary Merv Foote first began providing veterinary care across western New South Wales. Now owned by Dr. Peter Launders, who joined in 2009 and took ownership in 2011, the practice continues its long tradition of professional and trusted care. As a mixed practice, we treat pets including dogs and cats, as well as livestock such as cattle, sheep, and horses. Our services range from consultations, vaccinations, desexing, and microchipping to dental care, X-rays, surgery, and farm visits. With a focus on animal health and client support, we are committed to delivering compassionate, reliable veterinary care for every need.

      Among our 7 vets you will find a range of interests and species covered with a focus on extra training and/or extra studies since finishing Uni to keep our skills current - equine dentals; orthopaedic surgery; poultry; ultrasounds to name a few.

      We run a branch practice in Canowindra - every Monday from 10am to 2pm and every Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm. No appointment needed and our friendly team can cover your vaccination, medication and many other needs.

      Any pets that need X-rays, surgery, fluids or hospitalisation have to be taken to our Cowra clinic. Farm and home visits We are happy to come out to your farm to see your cattle, horses, sheep, alpacas etc. We are also happy to make home visits - for example, to save you the difficulty of bringing a large dog with arthritis into the clinic

      Do you offer payment plans?

      Unfortunately, no - too many people just don't live up to their promises. If people are having trouble affording veterinary care for their pets, we recommend applying to VetPay. You can also make payments to us ahead of time. Another option is to consider pet insurance.


      What days do you do surgery?

      We do scheduled surgery (e.g. desexing) every day from Monday to Friday. If we need to do emergency surgery that can happen at night or on the weekend.
