An occupational therapy service offering clinic, home and community-based assessments and therapy for adolescents and adults.

Action Occupational Therapy is a mobile occupational therapy service, based in East Maitland. We offer clinic, home and community based assessments and therapy for clients residing in the Hunter Region, with a focus on providing OT that is evidence based, best practice and client centred. We currently have limited capacity for referrals with some therapists. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.

We provide a range of OT services, including: Functional Assessments Cognitive And Perceptual Assessments

Interventions to maintain and/or improve independence in daily activities including: Personal Care (Showering, Dressing, Grooming, Toileting) Mobility And Transfers Falls Prevention Home Safety Meal Preparation Home And Community Access Shopping Medication Management Financial Management Family/Carer Training

Personalised Goal Setting Formulation Of Client Centred Treatment Plans Environment Modifications Including Complex Home Modifications Seating/Positioning/Wheelchair Prescription Equipment Prescription Pressure Care Upper Limb Management Sensory Processing Perceive, Recall, Plan, Perform (PRPP) System Of Task Analysis Functional Independence Measure (FIM) Assessment Client Advocacy

Do you bulk bill?

Clients with a GP referral under the Chronic Disease Management Program can claim a portion of fees back from Medicare.


Do I need a referral from my doctor to be seen by your service?

No, you do not need a referral from a doctor.


How much are your fees?

Please contact Action Occupational Therapy to discuss our fee structure.


What other funding options can I use to access occupational therapy services?

We can see clients covered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Lifetime Care and Support (LTCS), Chronic Disease Management Program, Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) and some clients can claim a portion of fees back from their private health insurer.


Where do you see clients?

We practice out of clinic rooms in East Maitland. We also offer a mobile service, where we can see clients in their own homes or greater community.


Do you see Department of Veteran’s Affairs clients?

Yes, DVA health cards (gold and white) are accepted as payment upon a GP referral.


Can you complete functional assessments and reports?

Yes, we can complete thorough functional assessments and provide reports to assist clients with applications for services such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or various Centrelink payments such as the Disability Support Pension (DSP) or carer allowance.
