      Martins Eyecare is an independent practice whose goal is to return to "complete eye care" for a person and family.

      Being independent allows us to source the best products at the best prices, we are not told what to sell or what prices to charge. Our optometrists always exceed the O.A.A. guidelines for continuing education. Our staff are always supported with advice, training and education.

      We stock frames and sunglass that we source from all over the world. Many are not found elsewhere in Tasmania, or even anywhere in Australia. These range from 'no-gap' for health fund members to European designer ranges from France, Germany and Italy to name a few.

      We source European designed lenses manufactured in Melbourne by an Australian owned family company. This gives us world class lenses, coatings and tints normally for much lens that our larger rivals. It makes us proud to support Australian manufacturing in these trying times.

      Free Ultrasonic Cleaning of Spectacles: Martins Eyecare provides customers with free spectacle ultrasonic cleaning. This cleaning is designed to get even the toughest spots off your spectacles. So whether you are a patient or just passing by come into Martins Eyecare and take advantage of our free, top grade cleaning service.

      What warranties do you offer for your frames and lenses?

      All our frames come with a minimum of 12 months repair or replace warranty. Many frames come with longer extended warranty periods. Our multifocal, or graduated, lenses are supplied with a 3 month adaptation warranty. All our coatings are covered by a 2 year warranty.


      Do you offer digital eye photos? If so how much do you charge?

      We offer digital photos of your retina as well as the front of your eyes and eye lids. This service is included in our bulk billing, with no out of pocket.


      I am a pensioner, can I get government assistance for my spectacles?

      Yes, you can apply for assistance by filling out an application, we can help you if you need it. If approved you are entitled to subsidised, reduced costs for lenses and frames.
