Dr Parkin is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist visiting patients at Warners Bay Private Hospital, Gosford Private Hospital, Brisbane Waters Private Hospital, as well as Wyong & Gosford Public Hospitals. Having graduated from the NSW Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Distinction) in 1984.
Dr Parkin undertook medical and surgical training at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1989. Dr Parkin trained at Royal North Shore Hospital and Westmead Hospital in Sydney and received Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 1995. He spent over a year at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, England as Senior Medical Registrar & Locum Consultant and returned to the Central Coast in 1997 as a Consultant Gastroenterologist.
Dr Parkin is a conjoint lecturer at the University of Newcastle & is actively involved in student teaching & GP education. Dr Parkin was the head of the Medical Advisory Committee at Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital since its opening in 2019. Dr Parkin specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of disorders affecting the gastrointestinal tract, including disorders of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas.

He diagnosed and healed my perforated ulcer. Later when it happened again and I lost half my stomach in surgery 11 years ago, and even though I hadn't been his patient in a long time and I was now a public patient , he had heard about me and found me in hospital to check up on me. I actually think he has a bit of a brusque sense of humour and caring nature. Anyway I'd rather have a great specialist who can fix me than Mr congeniality.

From the start of walking into the rooms of Dr David Parkin his receptionist was nothing short of extremely abrupt & rude. There is a difference in the two ( rude & abrupt ) but the receptionist was both.
There’s a sign on the door saying to wear a mask, but the both receptionist were not wearing a mask.
Once David Parkin came out he looked down towards the ground to a piece of paper on a desk. Whilst saying to me Down the end of the hall way and pointing while saying this. No eye contact what so ever. Again just terribly rude.
These people specialist I always thought went to university and studied to become health professionals which also consists of helping the general public. When you have to go to these people ( specialist ) not by choice but due to being so sick. You certainly don’t expect to be treated with rudeness and being abrupt. It’s the last thing you would or should expect from people in this profession.
The hole experience was nothing short of disgusting and unnecessary in these terrible times that one is experiencing. It’s now that we all should be trying to come together. In these hard times with everything that’s going on.
One certainly doesn’t expect to pay $340 which is more money than other specialist in this field charge. And then be treated & spoken to in this manner.
This David Parkin would dare speak more treat one like the way we were treated. Out on the street. It’s funny how they feel or seem to come across thinking that there something greater than what they are. When there in there own little rooms or own
