I want to put up a new fence. Is it worth investing in a survey prior to erecting the new fence?
A boundary fence can be a significant investment and it is prudent to ensure it is erected in the right location to avoid loss of your investment or neighbour disputes. Only Registered Cadastral Surveyors can perform boundary surveys (identification surveys). Contact Define Group (QLD) Pty Ltd to discuss your fencing project and the options available to you.
Why would I need a contour and detail survey?
Contour and detail surveys are typically used to inform engineering or architectural design, by accurately locating the existing topography, features, and infrastructure on a site and developing a 3D digital model of the data. Define Group (QLD) Pty Ltd regularly performs contour & detail surveys for large & small projects ranging from residential house extensions to major highway upgrades.
Should I have land surveyed before buying a property?
Engaging a surveyor prior to purchase can help provide peace of mind that real property description on your contract of sale or mortgage document, is the property you think you are buying, or that the property boundaries are where you understand them to be. Define Group (QLD) Pty Ltd assist clients by providing location certificates and performing Identification surveys to give certainty in your investment.
Who can do a boundary survey?
In Queensland, only a Registered Cadastral Surveyor, or other suitably registered persons under the supervision of a Registered Cadastral Surveyor can perform boundary surveys. The Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ) keeps a Register of suitably qualified and endorsed surveyors. More information is available through the SBQ website or the video link below. https://youtu.be/3S8J6_mKQ7k
Can my land be subdivided?
Not always. Local and State Government planning schemes and regulations control property development. Define Group are happy to assist you in determining the potential for your land to be developed. We offer a free of charge consultation to understand your objectives and provide initial advice.
What does a surveyor do?
Surveyors provide a wide range of services to clients. In addition to boundary surveys performed by Registered Cadastral Surveyors, surveyors are also integral to construction industries where they provide services including gathering 3D contour and infrastructure information that informs design, set out of infrastructure prior to construction, determine volumes for contract payment.
