The Look Orthodontics was established in 1983 and has been providing orthodontic care in Melbourne since then. Patients treated in the 1980s are now returning to have their children treated. Our long term commitment to these areas will hopefully see us treating grandchildren of our early patient in the years to come.

Orthodontics is all we do. Our experienced orthodontists are a team of committed professionals who will guide you through your journey to achieve your ideal smile. Can I have after school or late night appointments ?

Yes, we have before and after school appointments available to minimise the amount of time missed from school. These appointment times are popular and generally reserved for only shorter visits.


How much do braces cost ?

The cost of treatment will vary depending on your individual treatment lan. We provide NO DEPOSIT, INTEREST FREE payment plans to allow you to have the smile you always wanted without emptying your wallet. Our friendly staff will also structure your payment schedule to maximise your health fund rebate.


How much will a consultation cost ?

The cost for the initial consultation is $50. There is no charge for x-rays or moulds if these are required. There is also no charge to return and discuss your treatment plan. For treatment we also offer NO DEPOSIT, NO INTEREST, PAYMENT PLANS.


Why is orthodontic treatment important ?

Straight teeth as a result of orthodontic treatment makes us feel good about our appearance. The improvement in confidence and self-esteem as a result of orthodontic treatment is a great advantage. Research has shown that better smiles directly translate to better jobs, pay, relationships, and a happier life.


What is orthodontics ?

Orthodontics means “to move teeth”. We use braces and other modern appliances such as Invisalign to straighten your smile.


When should orthodontic treatment be started ?

Orthodontic treatment can be started at any age. We strongly recommend that the first consultation is at about 7 or 8 years of age. This allows any simple intervention to be made early to ensure that when your child is ready for braces treatment. A growing number of adults are also seeking orthodontic treatment for more youthful smiles later in life. There is no age restriction for orthodontic treatment and various options are available to suit your lifestyle and budget.


How long will I need to wear braces ?

Every person is different. On average most patient’s wear braces for 18 to 24 months. For more simple problems it may be much less.


Who is an orthodontist ?

An Orthodontist is a dentist that has undertaken an approved post graduate university course (Full time for three years) which makes them registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. This makes them a Specialist in orthodontics – Similar to how a GP doctor is different to a heart doctor (Cardiologist). All of our doctors are specialist orthodontists. All orthodontists are dentists, not not all dentists are orthodontists.


How do I know if I need orthodontics ?

1. You don’t like the look of your smile. 2. Your teeth are crooked. 3. You have gaps between your teeth. 4. Your upper and or lower teeth stick out. 5. Your upper and lower front teeth cannot touch each other when the back teeth bite together. 6. Your teeth show signs of wear. 7. You have difficult chewing. 8. You don’t like the look of your jaws.


Do I need a referral to see you ?

No. Although we happily accept them, a referral is not required to see one of our orthodontists.
