Thorak Regional Cemetery, nestled in the tranquil bushland of Knuckey Lagoon, spans over 26 hectares, with more than 10 hectares thoughtfully landscaped. This serene space offers various commemorative options, such as plaques, headstones, monuments, and memorial trees, to honour loved ones. For children, there is a dedicated Garden of Angels, a peaceful area that serves as a tender tribute. With a range of memorial options available, including memorial rocks, families can create lasting tributes in a beautiful, natural setting.
Established in 1988, Thorak Regional Cemetery is a non-denominational facility and the only active cemetery in the greater Darwin area. In addition to burial services, the cemetery features an onsite crematorium, which allows families to choose from multiple memorialisation options for cremated remains, such as interment in the serene memorial gardens, one of the two niche walls, or the stunning granite columbarium. Ashes can also be scattered in the dedicated scatter gardens, further enhancing the peaceful atmosphere of the grounds.
Thorak Regional Cemetery also honours the service and sacrifice of defence personnel with a special Garden of Remembrance. Over the years, the facility has undergone significant expansions, including the construction of a new administration office, followed by the purchase of a new cremator and the expansion of the chapel, all of which help provide high-quality services to the community. Surrounded by lush gardens, green lawns, and shade, the cemetery offers a calm, contemplative environment where families can gather in remembrance of their loved ones.
