General Info

We create exceptional wines and offer fine local cuisine, celebrating Bruny Island Premium Wines unique heritage and produce.

Bruny Island Premium Wines, located in the island settlement of Lunawanna, is Australia’s southernmost vineyard. Owned and operated by Bernice Dillon, a direct descendant of one of the island’s earliest settlers, the vineyard has a rich history. Bernice and her father planted the first block of vines in 1998, making it the island’s first vineyard. Their wines have earned over 50 medals in national and international competitions. Visitors can enjoy hand-crafted wines and cider, all produced on-site, along with meals at the vineyard’s restaurant, which is open daily for lunch and offers dinner on Saturday nights. The restaurant specializes in locally sourced produce, prepared by a father-son team who are both classically trained and globally experienced chefs. The menu changes seasonally to highlight the best of the island’s offerings. A visit to Australia’s southernmost winery is highly recommended as part of any Bruny Island experience. Bookings are encouraged for dining.

Welcome to Bruny Island Premium Wines, a name that's become synonymous with exceptional wine quality and a true-blue experience reflective of what makes Tasmania so special. Nestled in Lunawanna, a serene settlement on Bruny Island, we proudly bear the title of Australia's southernmost vineyard, a geographic marker that’s more than just a point on the map—it’s a testament to the spirit of adventure and commitment to craftsmanship that permeates all aspects of our business.

We are more than just a vineyard; we're the embodiment of a rich narrative spun from a lineage deeply ingrained in the soil of Bruny Island Premium Wines. Our founder, Bernice Dillon, is not merely an entrepreneur but a living chronicle, a direct descendant of the island's pioneers. This generational passage has imbued in us a sense of continuity, tradition, and an unyielding connection to the place we call home. It was Bernice, together with her father, who channelled this heritage into horticulture, planting the first grapevines back in 1998.

Our vineyard mirrors the evolution of Bruny Island Premium Wines itself, seamlessly blending the time-honoured methods passed down through the years with modern innovation. As a result, our selection of handcrafted wines and ciders have gone beyond the shores of Tasmania, capturing over 50 accolades in national and international competitions. Each bottle is a testament to the meticulous care that goes into every step of production, from tending the vines to mastering the fermentation process—all under the careful watch of our on-site experts.
