As podiatrists we are involved in the maintenance of foot health, mobility and the prevention of complications to diabetic feet.

Conveniently located The Gas Works complex on Shakespeare street, with free onsite parking, Podiatry Mackay offers weekday appointments, and evening and after-hours appointment by request. No referral necessary!

Podiatry Mackay is a private practice that has been providing quality specialized care for the foot and lower limb to Mackay and the region for over 20 years. There are two full time nationally registered podiatrists ensure all treatment is patient focused. The podiatrists regularly attend ongoing professional development conferences and seminars to ensure they're on top of all developments within the field and to ensure you receive the very best podiatric care that you deserve.

Our patients come from many varying backgrounds and referral sources, and whilst we receive a large number of referrals from medical and allied health professionals, many of our most satisfying referrals come from word of mouth from existing patients, their friends and families. Walk-ins, Workcover referrals, DVA referrals, Medicare referrals, home visits, Mater hospital visits, children, elderly, sports people, and everyone in between!

As podiatrists, we see and are highly trained to treat many and varied foot and lower limb conditions on a daily basis. Some examples are as follows: Diabetic complications, kids feet & growing pains, corns & callus, sport-related complaints, foot & leg injuries, biomechanical conditions, gait & posture problems, musculoskeletal overuse injuries, alignment problems, arthritic pain, ingrowing, fungal & deformed nails, occupational foot injuries.

Do I need a referral to see a Podiatrist?

No, a referral is not needed to see one of our podiatrists However, certain patients such as those with Department of Veterans Affairs cards and Medicare Care Plans and EPC's will need referrals from their GP. “You can claim directly from your Private Health funds and simply pay the gap at the time of your appointment.”


Who should see a Podiatrist?

Our patients come from many varying backgrounds and referral sources, and whilst we receive a large number of referrals from medical and allied health professionals, many of our most satisfying referrals come from word of mouth from existing patients, their friends, and families. At Podiatry Mackay we accept walk-ins, Workcover referrals, DVA referrals, Medicare referrals, we do home and hospital visits to the Mater, children/paediatric, the elderly/geriatric, sports people, everyone in between!

What is a Podiatrist, and what do they do exactly?

Podiatry or podiatric medicine is a branch of medicine devoted to the study of diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. Podiatrists are also able to diagnose and treat any complications of the above which affect the lower limb, including skin and nail disorders, corns, calluses, and ingrown toenails. Foot and leg injuries and infections gained through sport or other activities are also diagnosed and treated by podiatrists.
