When/how do i get a death certificate?
Death Certificates are normally ordered when the Death is registered and normally that is done by us on the day of the Funeral and we usually receive them from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages within a fortnight of the Funeral.
How soon should the funeral be?
Once again, a family choice generally people like to advertise and give a couple of days' notice to the general public which means if a funeral was arranged the day after death a funeral would be held approx. 4 days after death. Some families like to hurry and get it over with and others like to take more time to plan a funeral. So, the answer is between 2 and 7 days under normal circumstances
How much does a funeral cost?
The cost of a funeral depends on many factors. An example may be that the funeral is held at a crematorium chapel by a celebrant (or Clergy), and the family chose a simple and dignified coffin, had a notice in The Herald and wanted a medium sized floral arrangement. The price would be approx. $4500. If the family had similar choices to above and wanted to be buried in Maitland Cemetery areas, the cost would be approx. $5200. Newcastle Cemeteries would be approx. $6400.
What do I need to do to arrange a funeral?
To arrange a Funeral, you simply need to arrange a meeting with a Funeral Director you trust and feel comfortable with.
Should there be a viewing?
Viewings are up to the individual family some like to, and it is always a positive thing in my experience. Also, many people are happy that they have been with someone when they have died and are quite content with that memory as well.
Can you help with print and DVD memories?
Yes, we do help with orders of service and DVD presentations although I try to see if someone in the family has a flair for the design and/or collation of the photos to allow family input.
