We aim to offer a uniquely Tasmanian wilderness experience, fostering a connection with nature and promoting eco-friendly tourism.

Set on the banks of the Tyenna River on the edge of Mount Field National Park, Russell Falls Cottages offers a uniquely Tasmanian wilderness experience, starting at the bottom of the garden. Spot pademelons and possums at dusk, and take the footbridge across the river to stroll through lush temperate rainforest leading to the iconic Russell Falls. Venture to the spectacular alpine environs of the Mount Field Plateau, and take a boardwalk though some of the tallest trees on earth at the Styx Big Tree Reserve. Or simply fly-fish one of the world’s premier trout streams. Just over a comfortable one hour’s drive from Hobart, Russell Falls Cottages has four residences offering self-contained, self-catering accommodation suited to couples and families. With mountain and forest views, and direct access to the Mount Field National Park Visitors’ Centre, the Cottages make the perfect base from which to explore the Tasmanian wilderness.

Nestled on the serene banks of the Tyenna River and resting on the fringes of the untouched beauty of Mount Field National Park, we at Russell Falls Cottages pride ourselves on offering a unique escape into the heart of Tasmania’s wilderness. Our location serves as the perfect setting for our visitors to immerse themselves in an authentic Tasmanian experience, whether it’s the tranquil surroundings you’re after or the adventure and exploration of the local natural wonders.

Our four self-contained, self-catering cottages are ideally geared towards couples and families looking to capture the essence of a wilderness sojourn. These abodes, with their cosy interiors and splendid mountain and forest vistas, marry rustic charm with the comforts of modern amenities. This distinguished blend provides ease and convenience, empowering our guests to create their home away from home. Strategically positioned just a stone's throw away from the marvel that is Russell Falls, our cottages are a hop, skip, and jump from the magnificent natural attractions that the park has to offer.

Excitingly setting the scene for future experiences at Russell Falls Holiday Cottages, we are prepping for the introduction of our luxurious Riverfront camping pods. These six new stunning structures are meticulously handcrafted in Europe from fine-grade natural timbers. They are due to grace our riverbanks from Spring/Summer 2024, proposing an innovative and enchanting way to commune with nature comfortably and stylishly. In the same vein, we are also developing new camping sites, aiming to extend the variety of options available for our different types of explorers.
