Asset Building & Pest Inspections specialise in combined pre-purchase and pre-sale building and timber pest inspections and pool safety inspections. You will get 1 inspector - Martin Slater to complete one, both or all three inspections. He can do it all for you at the one time saving you time and money.
The inspection will cover all areas of the property which provide reasonable access including: *The interior, *The subfloor, *The roof void, *The roof exterior, *The exterior, *The site. We know that buying a property can be stressful. If you’re not a builder it can feel like you’re flying blind. That’s why an Asset BPI building and pest inspection is designed to put you at ease. Our plain English reports give you the full picture on the property condition. Which means that you can move forward with confidence.
An Asset Building & Pest Inspection will determine the presence of wood destroying insects such as termites, borers and wood decaying fungi. We use thermal camera technology to help detect these insects in addition to the Australian standard 4349.1-2007 and 4349.3-2010 inspection guidelines. The number one factor when choosing a property inspector should be knowledge and experience in the building industry. Anyone can tick and flick. And you probably won’t know until it’s too late. That’s why you should choose an inspector with experience of Brisbane properties and at least a decade of experience in the building industry.

Do you use thermal imaging/infrared cameras?
Yes, All our inspectors use thermal imaging. This will show up things that are not perceptible to the human eye such as a water leak or a termite infestation.
Do you inspect the roof void?
Yes. If your roof void is easily accessible and safe to access then we will inspect it. If the inspector deems that the roof void is unsafe to enter, then they will do all that they can to inspect it by other means. This may involve a visual inspection from the manhole or an exterior roof inspection. The report will clearly outline how the roof void was inspected and if there were any impediments.
I have a steel framed house, do I still need a building and pest inspection?
Yes. Steel framed houses still contain a number of elements which are made of timber such as doors, cabinets, window frames etc which are all prone to termite infestations. Also, the building inspection itself can reveal if there are any structural elements to the house that are unsatisfactory.
If I have a concrete slab, do I still need a timber pest inspection?
Yes. This is important as there is no sub floor for the inspector to assess due to the concrete being on the ground. Termites only need very small gaps in the concrete to gain access to timber structure (e.g. gaps around pipes, electrical cables, through covered weep holes etc).

I recommend Assett BPI to all of my friends, family and clients. Martin gives quality advice and a professional service. He is only to happy to take a phone call after an inspection to explain anything in his reports. Thanks for all your efforts over the years Martin and great to see you doing your own thing!
