When you visit our clinic, we listen carefully to the issues that your pets or cattle have been facing. With the help of our modern diagnostic equipment, we carry out a thorough evaluation of the condition of the animals. This helps us determine whether biologics, pharmaceuticals, or medications would be ideal, or if a surgical route would be essential. Due to our years of experience, we are aware of the common problems with animals and can take the necessary steps quickly.
You can reach out to Laverton Veterinary Clinic for various health care services. These include health checks, clinical pathology, microchips, vaccinations, worming treatments, flea control, and nail clipping. In addition to this, our surgical services involve radiography, desexing, orthopaedic, dental, and other procedures. So, if you are based in Laverton and you are worried about your animal’s behaviour, get in touch with Laverton Veterinary Clinic ASAP.

What is microchipping?
A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected under your pet's skin. It can be done during a normal consultation. The microchip is embedded with a code unique to your pet and is the most effective form of permanent identification. This code is placed onto a national computer database, so it is particularly useful in the return of lost pets. They can also assist where the ownership of an animal is in dispute.
Is desexing painful?
As with all surgery, there is some tenderness immediately after the procedure, but most pets will recover very quickly. We administer pain relief prior to surgery and after surgery too. Your pet will be discharged with a short course of pain relief medication to take at home for the first few days after the surgery. In many cases, your pet will likely need some encouragement to take it easy!
What does a professional dental clean involve?
It is the same as a scale and polish done by a dentist for us. However, unlike us, our pets won't sit still or open their mouth to allow a comprehensive cleaning of their teeth. For this reason our pets need to have a general anaesthetic for a professional dental clean. Your pet will need to be assessed by one of our veterinarians. The degree of dental disease will be assessed to determine if extractions, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories will be required.
Should my female have one litter first?
No - it is actually better for her not to have any litters before being spayed. Her risk of developing breast cancer increases if she is allowed to go through her first heat.
What are your contact details?
Our daytime phone number is (03) 9360 0911, and our after hours for emergencies only is (03) 9731 2232.
How often should my cat get vaccinated?
The immunity from kitten vaccination weakens over time and your pet can again become susceptible to disease. Annual health checks and booster vaccinations will provide the best protection for the life of your pet.
How often should my dog get vaccinated?
The immunity from puppy vaccination weakens over time and your pet can again become susceptible to disease. Annual health checks and booster vaccinations, as required, will provide the best protection for the life of your pet.
What are your opening hours?
We are open Monday to Friday from 9am until 7pm, and Saturdays from 9am until 12pm.
Where are you located?
You can find us at 141 Railway avenue, Laverton.
Will desexing affect my pets personality?
Your pet will retain their pre-operation personality, possibly with the added bonus of being calmer and less aggressive.
