What happens if the power goes off - how do I operate the garage door?

All B&D & ATA operators have a simple manual release cord which allows the door to be operated manually during loss of electrical power. Garages or installations where the roller door is the only point of access will require an additional accessory at the time of installation to enable the door to be operated manually.

Should I use a professional installer?

At The Roller Door Man NQ Pty Ltd, we believe that the installation of a garage door is not a D.I.Y job. Proper installation is critical to the performance of your door. Professional installers can typically install a door in a few hours and are careful to make sure safety requirements are met. Installations by inexperienced persons cause much frustration & incorrect installation can void certain warranties, so we recommend that our professional installers handle the job for you.

When I press the transmitter for my overhead door opener, the chain/belt moves but the door does not open?

Check if the opener has been disengaged. Re-engage the opener using the string handle and make sure that the chain index clicks into the shuttle securely.

How long does installation take?

Installation typically takes between 1-2 days, depending on the size and complexity of the project.

How do I maintain my roller shutters?

Regular cleaning and lubrication of moving parts are essential for optimal performance. We can assist with maintenance if needed.

Is regular maintenance of my door required?

The Roller Door Man NQ Pty Ltd recommends that you check the operation of your door at least every three to six months (more regularly in extreme environments or frequent use). The effort required to manually open and to manually close the door should be about the same (if the door has an automatic opener, put into manual mode before testing door). Note: if correct maintenance & servicing are not carried out, the warranty may be void.

Should I adjust my door myself?

The spring unit is under tension at all times and should never be adjusted, except by B&D doors or approved B&D dealers. No operator or other people should ever stand directly in the path of the door in its downward travel or walk through the doorway while a door is moving. Always use the door handle to manually operate the door. If the door is now or later becomes automatically operated, the pull down rope on the door must be removed.

Why does my gate or garage door reverse before closing?

This can be for a number of reasons. The opener may be sensing a physical obstruction or the force margins may need adjustment. If there is no physical obstruction this is a very good indicator that the door may require a general service.

Sometimes my door opens by itself? (27MHz and pre-TrioCode TM systems only)

This could be radio frequency interference, a faulty transmitter or perhaps an opener issue. Please contact us for assistance.

Do I need to wash my Colorbond door?

Washing the door with clean water and a cloth every 14 days is recommended. More frequent washing is advised in salty or industrial fallout areas. Remember, when you think of cleaning your car, clean your door! Do not wash the automatic opener, it will void the warranty and could cause electrocution.

What if the door seems heavy and opens very slowly?
