Trans oesophageal ECHO If your doctor wants more detailed images or its difficult to get clear images with Transthoracic ECHO. In this procedure:Your throat will be numbed, and you will be given medications to help you relax. A flexible tube will be inserted into your throat and into your oesophagus (tube from mouth to stomach). Images of your heart are taken from this position. You will need to fast prior to this test.
U/sound images are taken before and immediately after you walk on a treadmill. Trans catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) Trans catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a new treatment for patients with severe aortic stenosis. The procedure is performed by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team led by Dr Rohan Bhagwandeen, director of structural intervention and the cardiac catheterization laboratories at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is the only accredited TAVI centre in the Hunter New England area and performs TAVI as a treatment option for eligible patients with severe aortic stenosis. What is an Exercise stress test and how do I prepare for an exercise stress test?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Sport shoes. Ask your Dr if you take your regular medications prior. Avoid eating for at least 3 hours prior to test. Avoid caffeine (tea, coffee, cola and chocolate) for 24 hours before the test.
